Meet CarinHi, I'm Carin Timskog, and I'm here to help you achieve your fitness goals, but first, you might want to know a bit about me.
I'm a Certified Personal Trainer, a Certified Pre- & Postnatal and Health Coach. I have been working in the fitness industry since 1998, and I love my job. As a busy, hijab-wearing mum, I know just how difficult it can be to find the time to focus on your own goals. Still, I also know how important it is that Muslim women make time for themselves and their health. That's why I founded Energized Muslimah - to bring fitness for Muslim women into the mainstream. As an ex-emotional eater, I know what it's like to feel powerless about your own life, and particularly your health. I know how hopeless it can feel when your clothes start to get tight, your self-esteem falls through the floor, and yet you feel unable to help yourself. That's why I have committed my working life to help women just like me because if I can do it, anyone can. I became a personal trainer in 1998 but was still struggling with emotional eating. I'd say I stopped that behavior in 2013 when I became a Health Coach. I established a home fitness routine before I became a mum because I had no other choice, as there were no other gyms available where I used to live. I also have completed 200 hours of Teacher Training in Ashtanga Yoga from the Centered Yoga Institute, Yoga Alliance. I went to India and Thailand for months to learn from the leaders of yoga teacher training. The practice and teaching others helped me develop the Energized Muslimah Mobility approach that helped me recover from childbirth and prepare me for my many adventures. I worked out during both of my pregnancies and now weigh around 8 kilos less than I did pre-pregnancy! I worked out how to manage my time and motivate myself to achieve astonishing results. I can support you to do the same with my unique brand of fitness for Muslim mums and sisters. MY JOURNEY TO ISLAM
In 2008 when I was living in Norway and worked as Asst. Club Manager at SATS, I got headhunted from the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha, Qatar. I was thrilled and terrified at the same time. But the excitement took over, and I moved. After all, I knew I wanted to be out of my comfort zone and needed another challenge to grow. I tried hard to fit in and feel good about myself as a teenager. But I was struggling. On the surface, it looked really cool, though. Traveling, friends, social life, inspiring jobs, and so on. But on the inside, I was afraid to die, had low self-esteem, and felt anxious about life in general. At the age of 24, I became a yoga teacher, practiced yoga six days a week, and searched for tranquility and inner peace. It helped me to a certain degree, but I still knew that I needed to search for my true purpose in life. On the fourth day of Ramadan, after one and a half years living in Qatar, I declared my faith at the Islamic Center and became a Muslimah. That's when I finally could experience the inner peace I always had been searching for. To watch my story and the episode I was once featured in on Qatar TV in 2013, CLICK HERE.

SyndeedI know how difficult it can be to wear a hijab and be active! Whether that is to go walking, running, fitness training, or being sporty playing with your kids. At the same time, as you want to be modest, you must feel and look like the queen you are and move freely.
The above struggles were all solved when I found Syndeed. I feel modest, and I wear a hijab. I'm comfy, I feel cool, and I can move. I absolutely love it. |
BokittaSince I've started to wear my first instant hijab from Bokitta, it's impossible to wear a regular scarf again. I absolutely love these. These are practically in two pieces; a comfy large hairband over the head and the scarf stitched together so that it stays in place without making you hot.
So comfy and practical for both sports and when you are dressed smart casual. My favorites are Voila Maxi and Freestyle with crossed inner. |
